Micho Russell Interview with Denis Canty

Micho Russell Interview with Denis Canty

About

A half-hour long interview of Micho Russell by Denis Canty from Ennis, followed by a recording of a piece composed in honour of Micho by Norwegian composer Steinar Ofsdal called The Flute Player on the Green Island.

Denis Canty gave a lift to Micho Russell after he had landed back from a trip in Norway where Micho was invited for a TV show, and as the day went on they stopped at Denis’ house for tea and recorded this interview. Micho talks about various topics including his family, music, folklore tales. He also tells stories, sings a few songs and play some tunes.

As requested by Denis Canty, the interview and Steinar Ofsdal’s composition are merged into one track with a short break in between (the original CD has 2 tracks).

Sincere thanks to Denis Canty, Harry Hughes and Oidhreacht an Chláir (OaC) in Miltown Malbay for making this recording available.
